Filming: Extra Preparation

One of the biggest dilemmas we have faced in this project has been finding a suitable location. I already explained how the search was too hard, so we had to change the setting of the movie. By far, getting over the hurdle of finding a location has been the hardest part. It has also taken up the most of our time. Comparatively, writing the script and drawing the storyboard were much easier. We will probably be making more changes to our script as we go on. Whether the changes are in response to a part of the setting we did not account for or something else, it is likely the script will be changed. Likewise, we may have to alter the story from the storyboard to adapt to changes in the original plan. Other than that, we are ready to move on from finding the location and making the script and storyboard.

The next logical step for us would be to prepare every resource we need for filming. One thing EVERY film producer needs is a camera. Because of COVID-19 precautions, we can't go to school and use the school cameras. This is quite unfortunate since the cameras are much higher quality than those we have access to now. The cameras we will have to use are our smartphone cameras. However, this give us an advantage. Since the place we will film at is a public and outdoor park, bringing a high quality and expensive camera that doesn't even belong to us may cause us trouble. So, using our small and manageable cell phones causes less worry.

Something we do have to prepare before shooting are the props we will use. Since we switched settings form an abandoned building to a campsite, we need props that make the area look like a campsite. One necessity is a small tent. The tent is a fair amount of trouble to set up and take down every time we want to film, but we decided that without it, the project would not be as good as it could be. The tent we will use will come from my partner. They have a small enough tent that it can be transported easily every time we want to film. Unless we think of more necessary props, the tent will be the only one we need to establish the campsite setting.
